Night fishing consists of either dock or bridge fishing. The time of year will dictate whether we target snook in the passes or the lighted docks deep in the back of canals. Snook migrate to find warmer water in the winter. The further inland  they swim the warmer the water gets. Snook can tolerate a wide range of salinities, even fresh water. So if there not found in the back creek and rivers they will be found in the far reaches of deep residential  canals. There the water will be deep and full of current. The lights offer a warm, easy ambush point to slurp up anything the happens to be caught in the spotlight!

Bridge and pass fishing is during our warmer months. The Snook and Tarpon will travel the beaches during the day only to retreat to the docks and bridges for the nighttime hours. We have a large amount  of resident Tarpon that stick around the bridges until October/ early November weather permitting.

Fly Fishing those docks and bridges seems to be the most exciting and effective method. For this I  recommend  8-9wt. with floating line. The Flies mainly consist of shrimp and minnow imitations. I will have a variety of my tried and true patterns as well. For bridge Tarpon I would recommend 10-12wt. outfits. The fish range from 15-100lbs.
